G for Ganesh, Gizmo and Godzilla

G had so many good options: I always love drawing Gambit, GladOs is a fantastic character, a Ghandi-Goku face-off could be epic, and the combination of Gandalf, Glenda and Granny Weatherwax is the stuff great novels are made from. Or at least esoteric musicals.

But in the metaphoric auditions that went on in my mind as I scanned the characters list, these three came up with the most intriguing idea, and a strong, compelling performance to boot. Couldn’t say no.

F for Frodo and Falcor

After a long wait, finally featuring F!

Someone suggested I drew Fezzik, and the thought of Frodo trying to fight the Giant had a certain charm, but eventually the fluffy luck dragon won. Falcor is drawn part from memory and part from reference, after I tried drawing “a dragon that looks like a dog” and came up with some sort of Simba-Stitch hybrid, and decided to maybe check how he actually looks.

As usual, drawn on an iPad with the Procreate app and a Wacom stylus, with a subtle texture layer in Photoshop.
